Education

In terms of content and design, the impressive experience of the artistic projects is enriched and expanded by a diverse outreach programme, which will also be visible at the 2023 Festival. The results of a free exploration of the theme of light and the incorporation of used materials into a meaningful cycle can be seen in the “Light Path” at Sparkassenplatz and Raiffeisenplatz.

The festival is accompanied by open workshops on the theme “What does light mean?” with art mediator Christa Bohle in cooperation with Palais Liechtenstein. At this exciting location, you will not only find a cosy bar in the inner courtyard and a work by François Morellet in the exhibition “Aesthetics of Existence”, but also a presentation by the HTL Rankweil with the promising title “Alternative Energies Make School”.

An additional level of mediation is the “Kulturabo”, which started in cooperation with Double Check at the beginning of the school year 2023/2024.

Open Call for Feldkirch schools
“Lichterpfad” at “Lichtstadt Feldkirch” 2023

For the third edition of the light art festival, a “path of lights” will be shown at Sparkassenplatz and Raiffeisenplatz. In cooperation with schools from Feldkirch, light objects were made from upcycled materials in the second half of the school year 2022/23.

Participants were pupils from the 5b and 7b classes of the Schillerstraße Feldkirch grammar school and the 2A class of the Rebberggasse grammar school in Feldkirch.

They independently thought about the implementation: which materials are weatherproof, which illuminant is suitable, how can the hanging device look like. In addition to the practical work, various topics were taught in class: Light art, upcycling, nature/environment, etc.

Lichtstadt-Culture-Abo

Together with the “Lichtstadt Feldkirch” and the Palais Liechtenstein, we look at the effect and perception of light. Finally, we will visit the light art festival behind the scenes. An event in cooperation with Double Check.

The culture subscription is aimed at Vorarlberg school classes, kindergartens and apprentices. On three dates (at school / at Palais Liechtenstein / at “Lichtstadt Feldkirch”), the children and young people are introduced to the subject of light art and are allowed to do some practical work themselves.
